Artist Bio
Sydney Rajchel is originally from the Front Range of Colorado and Montana. Sydney is currently based in Boston, MA. She holds degrees in both Fine Arts with a minor in Economics and in Chemical Engineering. Her work explores the conscious and subconscious idealization of Home and The West, particularly being separated from it. Sometime taking on a narrative folklore like aura, her art strives to create scenes that inspire a sense of longing. Sydney’s works are on display at the Carbon County Art Guild in Red Lodge, MT. Katie DePasquale is a visual artist residing in Boston, MA. Painting is her main medium, with a focus on still life’s, maximalist interiors, and landscape studies inspired by the ever changing interactions we have with our surroundings. She took up painting again in 2020 after a long hiatus, while living in a small apartment in the city with her husband, dog, and newborn. Her paintings of domestic spaces are often representative of the absence, and inadvertent presence, of the human figure. With patient dogs awaiting the return of their owner, a sunlit picnic table, wilting flowers, or messy pillows, we leave an imprint on our surroundings in unique ways. Katie loves to explore many different color pallets, while always with a focus on creating what she enjoys, and trying to make her work fun.
Materials and Techniques: Katie DePasquale primarily works with acrylic on paper using a variety of source references, bold under painting and layering with gestural brush strokes to create sumptuous roomscapse that, while devoid of any human figures, contain all the evidence of vibrant life.
Sydney Rajchel bounces between pen and ink, watercolor, and pastels as the mood suits her, employing both expressionism and mild surrealism to draw the audience in while keeping them on their toes.
