Artist Bio
My name is Sophia, and creating art is my passion! Ever since childhood, I’ve experimented with many types of mediums – from graphite pencil drawings, to watercolor portraits of dogs, and now acrylic painting. Painting with acrylics has been my sweet spot – especially with large scale paintings (despite my tiny apartment!). I love challenging myself with abstract work, as there is no map or guide for what to make. It allows my creativity to shine the most.
Materials and Techniques: I apply dry wall plaster (spackle) on canvas to create texture using different types of tools – forks, scrapers, hair clips, spoons – and then use acrylic paint to bring the work to life. I finalize every painting with a gloss or matte varnish depending on the look I want.
