Romula Savino - Romula Art - is a self taught artist whose originals are created exclusively with her fingers and hands. Her images arise from her thoughts, memories, and travels. Romula encourages her spectators to “Create what you see not what one tells you to see,” opening the doors for one's individualistic imagination and interpretation. You can catch a glimpse of her while she works in her studio in Boston’s Historic North End.
Her earliest and most powerful artistic inspiration comes from the 1974 Pompeii exhibit at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, which she attended at age four. The display of the carbonized sculptures frozen and huddled in a vulnerable state during the final moments of their lives resonated with Romula and ignited a passion to capture, repurpose, and reincarnate them figuratively throughout her artwork today.
