Artist Bio

My name is Ma Prem Sudip. My work is in pastels and fabric, but I do love oils and acrylics as well. I have been painting and sewing since I was little, and my first focus was painting family portraits and the homes we would move into. I graduated from Boston University and began working with the Somerville Arts Council on the Mystic River Mural Project from 2001 until 2006. I continued working in different mediums and eventually transitioned to become a eurythmy art and movement teacher for almost a decade.

Materials and Techniques: My sewing project, chicken stuffies made from re-purposed thrifted fabric, evolved from a need to develop engaging and comforting weights for my early childhood movement classes.

My pastel work is based on exploration of colors and how they move and how I can study them as a form of meditation. Figures are based on spiritual feelings and sometimes are inspired by literature or philosophical teachings.
