
Artist Bio
Lisa Murphy was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. Lisa is currently a member at ArtLifting, an organization that assists disabled people and persons formally unhoused. With Artlifting, Lisa had a mention in the Boston Globe, and NBC news. Miss Murphy participated in Artists Open Studio groups, including ones sponsored by partners Lesley University, Maud Morgan Arts, and NAMI. Miss Murphy has had the privilege of having a solo show at Midway Arts partnering with the Cultural Equity Incubator recently. She has had group showings at TILL Artwave, Gateway Arts, Attleboro Arts Museum, MFA, City of Boston Fay Chandler Emerging Arts Show, Humphreys Street Studios, JP Licks, UVA Gallery, Fort Point Art Gallery, and Boston University Arts Initiative, “Silber Way Art Exhibition”. Lisa is a black, gay woman, with a disability. In her paintings, she uses acrylics, collage, transfers, line work, stenciling and Morse code.
Materials and Techniques: Lisa uses her own lens as a disabled, gay, woman of color to create snippets of her own story. She creates intuitively, with acrylics, silhouettes, printing techniques, collage and morse code to express her unique life experiences.
