Barbara Scott lives in Londonderry, New Hampshire. She has two grown daughters, Kirstin and Taryn. As a child, Barbara was constantly drawing and enjoyed the challenge replicating subjects that caught her eye. Her first experience in painting occurred in the late seventies when she moved from Massachusetts to Conway, NH and studied oil painting from local artists.

In 1982 Barbara and her family moved to Londonderry. A hectic work and parenting schedule took up most of her time but she squeezed in an occasional class at the NH Institute of Art. Barbara returned to her love of painting in 2002.
I love working with color and light. I’m constantly learning something new. New Hampshire is blessed with an abundance of natural settings. Each season demonstrates vitality in an ever-changing mood through color, texture and light. I try to capture these qualities and reflect the magnificence of nature in my work.
I enjoy working on commissioned portraits in pastel or oil. I am fascinated with the human spirit which I believe is reflected in the face. I get a real sense of accomplishment when I am able to create a life-like quality in my work.
To date Barbara continues her training with on-going classes from local artists, workshops and is a member of several local art associations.
